Bangerter 3 Interchanges (6200 S, 10400 S, 12600 S)

RLW delivered three grade separated interchanges at 6200 S., 10400 S., and 12600 S. in areas of limited ROW and work zones. The design-build team used innovative design to enhance quality and reduce costs, including a lightweight concrete developed for parapets and bridge decks that enhanced seismic performance, reduced beam sections and reduced structural steel required by over 320,000 lbs. Through an alternative MOT scheme that used a “2-Fly” configuration, construction was completed using only 5 of the 36 allowable full closures, and the traffic lights at 12600 S. and 10400 S. were eliminated one year ahead of project completion. By modifying approach slabs at 10400 S., the team avoided eight traffic shifts and reduced impacts by 40 days, demonstrating our commitment to minimizing traffic impacts.
